Government Office Programme
The Government Office Programme provides a comprehensive, multi-year view of government office requirements across the motu.
The Government Office Programme is bringing agency, and system level property planning together to ensure alignment with the Government Office Strategy.
How we work with agencies to inform the Government Office Programme
We are currently engaging with mandated agencies to understand:
- their current intentions for each property in the agency's portfolio
- timing of planned lease renewals, exits and acquisitions
- business needs and future office space requirements as outlined in agencies' property plans
- how agencies' plans align with wider property system direction and priorities set by the Government Office Strategy.
By June 2026, information from individual agencies' property plans will:
- be integrated into regional property plans, which will be endorsed by the Government Property Governance Board
- inform GPO's ongoing system-wide planning under the Government Office Programme.
This integrated portfolio planning process will be repeated each year.
Benefits of integrated portfolio planning
An integrated planning approach:
- brings a whole of government perspective to property decision making
- identifies opportunities to optimise outcomes for each agency and the system as a whole
- strengthens governance providing more confidence to the government and general public
- simplifies the current leasing approval processes for agencies.
